About JEH

John E. Harvie is an experienced drummer in the Philadelphia area.  He is widely traveled throughout the mid-Atlantic region and is recognized by the musical community as a talented musician.  A founding member of the locally acclaimed party rock band, Mandy Raggs.  John has continued his journey with other popular bands playing a variety of musical styles, events and venues.   He has performed on TV, Radio and the best known clubs in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

John grew up in the Delaware Valley area, and began playing drums at the age of 13. He graduated from Ridley High School and attended Villanova University.   Beginning instruction in high school, John continued to receive training from William J. Schinstine (S&S School of Music), and currently is a student of Daniel Glass (Brian Setzer Orchestra and Royal Crown Revue).

John helped establish Mandy Raggs, a rock band that was known as a dynamic and creative group well regarded in the Mid-Atlantic area.  The Band played the most popular clubs at the New Jersey shore during the summer and in the Philadelphia club scene during the rest of the year.  After the successful run of Mandy Raggs, John broadened his musical style by becoming a free lance drummer, and has participated in a number of projects and groups, from rock to wedding bands to authentic traditional country bands with many top-rated musicians in the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys.

John continues his commitment to increasing the knowledge of his instrument by studying with Daniel Glass, attending Master Classes offered by JR Robinson, Billy Ward, Johnny Rabb and Denny Seiwell.  He regularly attends the Chicago Drum Show and various clinics to meet fellow drummers and increase his knowledge of new drum/percussion products, styles and techniques.  John has assisted Daniel Glass in support of several of his clinics, and the Drum Channel production of his latest award winning video, The Century Project.  Locally, John assists with drum building at a custom boutique drum maker, Bucks County Drum Company.

John is an endorsed Sonor Drum Artist and is proud to part of the Sonor Drum Company Team! (www.sonorusa.com/sonorblog/artist-profile/john-e-harvie-2/)
